OOTD The Orchard, After Chekhov

style

Spent an awesome day at the theatre with my lady – saw a production of The Orchard, after Chekhov, a great post-colonial piece. And also enjoyed Grand Hotel and Of Men and Marriage ( all part of the Shaw Festival’s 2018 season).

Rocking heatwave approved palazzo pants and tank (H&M), hat (Lack of Colour), striped layering piece (Mendocino) and shoes from Call It Spring (5 seasons ago). Allia on the other hand looked smashing, and/but was literally wearing an entire outfit identical to a 60 year old man also in attendance. And I love her for that. She is my own personal #manrepeller

Hats off to end of Summer Style! Yet, the heatwave persists.

OOTD – summer summer summertime

style

Why is it such a task to upload a few snaps from the UK trip? Maybe because I’m seven months pregnant. Yup. Probably that. But here is an OOTD with rose quartz necklace, beaded bracelets, rose tank, cuffed boyfriend jeans and a colourful HM dress worn unbuttoned as a layer.

Heading to a beautiful house in Prince Edward County, near Sandbanks Provincial park… and I’m ready to go. With WhoWhatWear’s inspiration, I made a list of my own and some pics for good measure.

H&M (above) has some awesome suggestions for easy vacation palettes and pieces that mix and match effortlessly.

I’ll be packing basics that intermix easily, go from day to night (just in case it gets chilly) and can go anywhere – from poolside to the fruit orchard, to the winery (not for me) or small town street for ice cream.

Stay tuned for sun and fun pics with the little nieces and family!

OOTD gold and blue

style

For the Inside Out Film Festival I needed a day to night outfit that was going to take me from screening to after parties.

Daytime is for pineapple flats and velvet details. Night time is when the heels come out. Small swaps had me party ready!

For more on this year’s fab festival, stay tuned.

Once, Twice…

style

I know a dress is a good one when I want to wear it twice in three days. I picked up this blue and white, kaftan style midi dress with tie-front for $40, and turned the corner of the rack to find my friend holding the same one.

Super versatile and easy to wear, it was a perfect choice over jeans, for a very windy day, paired with a black leather jacket and ankle cowboy boots. On the patio and into the evening, it was comfortable and breezy.

Two days later I wore it for a day date with my nieces to the movies, ice cream and for a walk on the windy beach, paired with a long denim jacket, Topshop peep toe slides and whimsical earrings.

Aldo sunglasses, Zara moto jacket, Gap denim trench, Frye cowboy boots, Topshop leather peep toe boot and H&M dress.

I love the flora of this print, which reminds me of wallpaper or the plates we had in my house when I was growing up. And the tie front means that while it fits now, it will also be a cinch to cinch it when I have a waistline again!

Is there an outfit you are wearing on repeat this spring?

Peasants Feast.

style

My very cool, radically humble friend, Erin, hosts a yearly event called peasants feast. You bring food and drink to share, and you share something of yourself. In past years I’ve seen mime, song, poetry, and video installations. This night always features some quirky entertainment, laughter and lots of surprises.

It always merits, for me anyway, a fabulous outfit.

Dress and boots: Zara

This year was no exception. There was the repotting a plant to the soundtrack of Beyond ThunderDome. A burlesque performance to Fever, Telling the story of the making of a femme fatale. Short stories. Canada Heritage minutes performed at rapid pace. A power point about the highs and lows of teacher-Life, with funny visuals of student work.

Cheers til next year.

Ps. The boots were an impulse purchase and I regret them not at all.

Feeling the Florals

style

I love all seasons, but particularly love cold weather floral motifs. H&M has some blooms in stock right now that are cheap and cheerful, which I plan to wear year round.

Layered up and button fronted with a shaggy vest for a trip to the aquarium.

Or open, over a cherry red slip dress with lips to match.

and pssst: Matchy matchy. My polish never lasts more than two days so the chipped ones flip to the next colour. #nailhack

Check out some of the gorgeous flower power on offer and catch that bouquet before it’s gone.
