Tiny Dancer

Picked up a great ballet motif top in NYC. Navy blue with little ballerinas all over it, high neck and 3/4 length bell sleeves. Paired with penny loafers or cute flats and great denim.

Running with a retro theme… I turned my gran’s charm bracelet into a necklace with a chain.

Finished with a daytime cat eye, hair barrette from urban outfitters and a quick curl with the flatiron …

Pale lip and some blush to banish the early a.m. blahs. Wrapped up for the winter morning and ready to go.

Deep Impact

Art, Uncategorized

Every so often I turn the basement into a studio, the ping pong table into an art desk. The most recent challenge was to create a new piece for a contractor friend who likes ‘masculine art’ and saw some of my older work.

I was happy to oblige and pull out my paints for a 30×60 piece in bold Crimson.

The pieces are almost always reversible. And I think j succeeded in keeping the more translucent areas from looking at all ‘pink’.

It’s always nice to have a project and in his case it seemed serendipitous, he installed a great basement floor and I used the nice, newly transformed space to make something for him.

Voila!

Be Our Guest

Our guest suite is an eclectic blend of global inspired pieces, unified by a palette of white, green and teal. Gilded metals and lots of texture help to make it an polished, but relaxing space. One corner of the room is a sleek home office, where a glossy Ikea desk is a work space, or dressing table for guests; the room is also full of books and plentiful throw cushions, perfect for propping up in bed and reading. Admittedly, our pillows are much nicer than the ones I included in the mood board (pictured above), but the overall vibe is the same. Sweet and serene. With  souvenirs, original art and a sepia toned map of the world that charts our travels, this room is really going places. It’s a far cry from the dark, forest green room full of hockey paraphanelia that was the former home owner’s shrine to… nineties suburban decor.
